Usher Scores First Top 30 Hit on Billboard Hot 100 in a Decade

R&B

Usher’s single “Good Good” has reached a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.

The song featuring Summer Walker and 21 Savage, produced by Mel & Mus, surges from No. 36 to No. 28 on the popular all-genre singles chart, currently led by Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red.”

“Good Good” marks Usher’s return to the top 30 of the Hot 100 chart after almost a decade. His last one was in October 2014, when he was a featured artist on Chris Brown’s “New Flame,” which also had Rick Ross.

In 2016, Usher’s collaboration with Young Thug, “No Limit,” came close to reaching the top 30, but only managed to reach No. 32. The song appears on his eighth studio album, Hard II Love

Additionally, “Good Good” is Walker’s Hot 100 best since 2022’s “Purple Hearts” with Kendrick Lamar and Ghostface Killah. The song, lifted from Lamar’s award-winning album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, reached No. 22.

Elsewhere on Billboard, “Good Good” continues to gain momentum. It remains at No. 1 on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for a second week and has reclaimed the top spot on the R&B Digital Song Sales chart after debuting there in August.

“Good Good” also enters the Adult R&B Airplay chart’s top 10 at No. 9, marking his 14th top 10 hit on the chart. It is one of two new songs in the top 10 this week, joined by Leela James’ “Right Back in It” at No. 10.

Late in September, “Good Good” hit No. 1 on urban radio, marking Usher’s first solo chart-topper in seven years. His previous success was with “No Limit” in 2016, and he also had a hit with Brown on “Party” in 2017.

Usher rolled out “Good Good” as his new single on Aug. 4 via his mega imprint with L.A. Reid, in partnership with Larry Jackson’s gamma. It is the lead single from his recently-announced ninth album, Coming Home, set to release Feb. 11, 2024.

The release date of Coming Home coincides with Usher’s Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show. He is the second artist to headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show since Apple Music teamed up with the NFL and Roc Nation.

Usher recently resumed his Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live. His new slate of shows runs through Dec. 2.
