Elmiene Releases New Song ‘Marking My Time’

R&B

R&B newcomer Elmiene has announced his new EP, Marking My Time, will release Oct. 20 via Polydor Records/Def Jam Recordings.

Regarding Marking My Time, the British singer shares, “The general theme of this project is trying to mark my time not in terms of history but just for me personally, so I don’t get lost. Almost making a checkpoint to anchor myself.”

He continues, “Even sonically, it’s like I’m marking my stamp that I put on things. Because I’m so deep in looking back behind me, I always found myself stumbling over what’s gonna happen next. So when my life started speeding up massively, I had to learn how to keep an eye on both sides – appreciating the past in order to do the future the right way and do it justice.”

Marking My Time will include contributions from Sampha, Syd, DJ Dahi, Jim-E Stack, Courage, Lil Silva, and more.

To coincide with his project announcement, Elmiene has released the title track, which he co-wrote with Jamie Woon and James Vincent McMorrow. Over gentle guitar plucks backed by cinematic strings, Elmiene sings, “Wanna set my soul on fire / Free me from this world / I’ve found so frail.”

“Marking My Time” is the follow-up to “Mama” and “Mad At Fire.” The latter two songs will also appear on the EP.

Marking My Time will follow Elmiene’s debut EP, EL-MEAN, released in March. It included his popular tracks “Why (Spare Me Tears)” and “Choose You.”

On Oct. 29, Elmiene will launch his three-city North American tour in Toronto, Canada. From there, he will travel to New York City, before concluding Nov. 9 in Los Angeles, California.
