Trevor Jackson Shares New EP ‘Heads Up’

R&B

Trevor Jackson has returned with his new EP, Heads Up, via his Born Art label.

The four-song set includes the previously shared titular track, which he delivered in February. Spanning 12 minutes, Heads Up is doused with catchy songs that explore sexual themes.

Among the highlights is the Malaika Terry-assisted “All The Way,” a bass-heavy banger that sees Jackson ready to go full-throttle in the bedroom. “Love it when I’m deep in / So I’m divin’ off of that deep end,” he sings.

On the vulnerable “Forget About Me,” Jackson finds himself catching feelings for a fling. “I should’ve kept my distance / You warned me but I didn’t listen,” he croons.

Speaking on his new project, Jacskon exclusively tells Rated R&B, “Typically, a heads-up is a warning, a call out, and a gesture to let people know that something is coming. Heads Up, the EP, is just the beginning, and I want people to know that these four R&B classics I just released are a beautiful introduction of what’s to come. You know, it’s complicated.”

Heads Up is the follow-up to Jackson’s 2022 EP, Show Me Diamonds, which was informed by drill and R&B stylings.

“With all due respect to the culture of drill music, I felt the inspiration to add it,” said Jackson. “That space has turned into ‘drill&b’ and people are loving it. I had a great time making this project and I wanted my fans to feel the same energy I felt when I made it as they listen in. Here’s a little treat before the holidays.”
