SZA Releases New Song ‘Saturn’

R&B

SZA is ready to escape Earth and settle on “Saturn” in her new single. It was produced by Carter Lang, Rob Bisel, Solomonophonic and Monsune.

On the euphoric track, SZA is feeling “stuck in this paradigm” and yearns to break free and start anew. It’s a similar sentiment expressed in her optimistic tune “Good Days,” where she longed to put her past behind her to make room for a brighter future.

“Sick of this head of mine / Intrusive thoughts, they paralyzе / Nirvana’s not as advertised / Therе’s got to be more, been here before,” she sings. “Life’s better on Saturn / Got to break this pattern,” she continues.

“Saturn” arrives in a five-pack featuring live, sped-up, acapella, and instrumental versions.

SZA first previewed “Saturn” in a performance-style Mastercard commercial that aired during the 66th Grammy Awards (Feb. 4).

At the ceremony, SZA, who was the most-nominated artist, took home three Grammys: Best Progressive R&B Album (SOS), Best R&B Song (“Snooze”) and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Ghost in the Machine”).

SZA recently achieved seven new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for songs from SOS. Among her RIAA awards was “Good Days,” which is now 6x platinum. It now ties with 2017’s “Love Galore” featuring Travis Scott as her highest-certified single.

“Saturn” is reportedly the first offering from LANA, the deluxe version of SOS. A day after the album’s first anniversary (Dec. 9), SZA shared five photos on her Instagram with the caption “LANA,” suggesting they may serve as alternative cover art for the upcoming project. A release date for LANA has not been announced at this time.

SOS was released Dec. 9, 2022, via Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 318,000 equivalent units sold. Last August, SOS was certified 3x platinum with three million equivalent units sold.

On May 5, SZA will headline the Sol Blume Festival in Sacramento, California. Then, in June she will perform at Governors Ball in New York City.
