SZA Lands Seven New RIAA Certifications for ‘SOS’ Tracks

R&B

SZA has achieved new awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for seven songs from her second album, SOS

Good Days,” the album’s lead single, is now certified 6x platinum for selling over six million equivalent units since its Dec. 25, 2020, release. It ties with 2017’s “Love Galore,” featuring Travis Scott, as SZA’s highest-certified single. It’s not SZA and Scott’s only RIAA award together. “Open Arms,” a deep cut from SOS, is certified platinum with one million equivalent units.

Snooze,” which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, is certified 4x platinum for selling over four million units. The Grammy-winning song, produced by Babyface and Leon Thomas, currently No. 7 on the Hot 100, has spent every week on this popular singles chart since it made its entry in late December 2022.

Other songs from SOS with new RIAA certifications include: “I Hate U” (3x platinum), “Ghost in the Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers (platinum), “Seek & Destroy” (gold) and “Conceited” (gold).

With SZA’s seven new RIAA awards, she now has 20 out of 23 songs on SOS with a certification. The songs awaiting a plaque are “Far,” “Too Late” and “Forgiveless” featuring Ol’ Dirty Bastard.

SZA’s new certifications come just weeks after winning three out of her nine nominations at the 2024 Grammy Awards. SOS won Best Progressive R&B Album, while “Snooze” won Best R&B Song and “Ghost in the Machine” won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Despite being the most-nominated artist at the 66th Grammys, SZA did not win any awards in the General Field, including Album of the Year. Instead, Taylor Swift’s Midnights took home a trophy in the latter category.

SOS was released Dec. 9, 2022, via Top Dawg Entertainment/RCA Records. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 318,000 equivalent units sold.

SOS was certified 3x platinum in August 2023.
