Drowning Poolhave cancelled their South American tour due to “low ticket sales”,with the band blaming it on “logistics”.

The Dallas nu metal band had been set to launch their first ever run of shows on the continent tomorrow (May 20) in Bogota, Colombia and it was due to run until a gig inCoritiba, Brazil on May 31, but on the eve of the tour, the plug has been pulled.

A statement from the tourorganisersread(in translation from Spanish):“The decision was made jointly by all local promoters involved due to low ticket sales recorded in all cities on the tour. Customers who have alreadypurchasedtickets must request a refund directly from the company responsible for ticket sales in their respective city. For more information and specific guidanceregardingthe refund process, please contact the local promoter. We appreciate your understanding.”

It comes just days after guitarist CJ Pierce appeared on theTeaser Talkpodcast, when he said the tour had been “put on hold” because “all thelogisticsweren’tput together for us to get there in time”.

“There’s a lot of, you know, again, red tape and stuff like that because we didn’t meet the deadline for it,” he continued. “So,I’mhoping to go back. Love South America. We really want to play there. I want to go so bad. Butyeah, that’sgoing to be it.”

FrontmanRyan McCombs added: “It’svery rarethat you see something come up on your calendar that youhaven’tdone before. And that’stherewasseveral countries there that we had never –I knowI’dnever been to before.SoI was really looking forward to that.Sowe’redefinitely pushingtowards that.”

They are far from the only artists to have to call off tours due to ticket sale troubles in recent months. This week,Kiefer Sutherland cancelled the US leg of his upcoming tourdue to what he described as “verylow ticketsales”,andThe Pussycat Dolls alsocalled off their North American shows earlier this month.

Others to cancel strings of dates – although not explicitly due to ticket sales – include Zayn Malik,Neil Young, andPost Malone and Jelly Roll.

Elsewhere, Drowning Pool are reissuing their debut album ‘Sinner’ for its 25th anniversary on June 5 and you can pre-order it here. They are also on the line-up forDownloadFestival next month.
