2023 Billboard Music Awards Nominations Announced

R&B

Nominees for the 2023 Billboard Music Awards have been revealed. SZA and The Weeknd have received the most nominations among R&B artists, with 17 and 16 nods, respectively.

SZA has been nominated for several awards, making her the third most nominated artist. She has been recognized in categories such as Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Female Artist.

Her sophomore album, SOS, has also been nominated for awards such as Top Billboard 200 Album and Top R&B Album. She established a new Billboard record for the most weeks at No. 1 on the latter chart this past summer.

“Kill Bill” and “Snooze,” two of SZA’s popular singles from SOS, are also being considered for nominations.

The Weeknd’s nominations for Top Hot 100 Song, Top Radio Song, Top Collaboration, and Top R&B Song are all thanks to his appearance on Metro Boomin’s “Creepin’” featuring 21 Savage.

Each category above for The Weeknd includes “Die For You,” a remix with Ariana Grande that topped the Billboard Hot 100, marking The Weeknd’s second chart-topper with Ariana Grande and seventh overall.

Additional nominees include Beyoncé, Steve Lacy, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Brent Faiyaz and Jordin Sparks, among others.

Icon Whitney Houston has received a posthumous nomination for Top Gospel Album for I Go to the Rock: The Gospel Music of Whitney Houston.

The 2023 Billboard Music Awards, produced by Dick Clark Productions, will take place Sunday, Nov. 19, and will be available to watch on the official award show website and across all Billboard social media channels.

According to Billboard, “performances and award celebrations will take place in global locations, in the midst of sold-out tours and in custom venues.”
