SiR Announces New Album ‘Heavy’ and Release Date

R&B

A new album from SiR is on the way — and luckily, we won’t have to wait much longer. The R&B singer has announced his third album, Heavy, will arrive March 22 via Top Dawg Entertainment.

The album will include his previously shared songs: “Satisfaction,” “Life Is Good” featuring Scribz Riley, “Nothing Even Matters” and “No Evil.” It will also include the newest track, “Karma” featuring Isiah Rashad, out today.

Heavy is the follow-up to SiR’s lauded second album, Chasing Summer, released in 2019 via TDE/RCA Records. The album, which debuted at No. 5 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart, featured Kendrick Lamar (“Hair Down“), Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Sabrina Claudio, Zacari and Kadhja Bonet.

In a June 2022 interview with Rated R&B, SiR discussed the direction of his next album, which didn’t have an announced title at the time. When asked to describe his new album, he said: “It’s different for me. It’s not Chasing Summer. We did a great job being in the moment with [Chasing Summer] and trying to give the fans something that was me at the time. In this next project, we’re doing the same thing, but in a different way.”

He continued, “I’m in a different space mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s going to be enlightening and tell a side of my life that people haven’t heard yet. So many things have changed with me. It’s going to be nice to reintroduce myself to the world and my fans.”

SiR also hinted at the album’s themes. “This project focuses a lot on my mental health. It talks about two sides of my life and how they intertwine,” he remarked. “I went through some stuff and had to figure out what I wanted. I think we do a good job of painting a very vivid picture of the duality of being an artist and a regular, everyday man. I know there’s music on here that people need to hear.”

In March 2023, SiR appeared on Creed III: The Soundtrack on “Lay Up” with Syd. Later that summer, he joined his brother D Smoke on the motivational anthem “Work Hard Play Hard” and collaborated with Robert Glasper and Alex Isley on “Back To Love.” The latter song scored a nomination for Best R&B Performance at the 66th Grammy Awards
