Riley Green will make his debut as a coach on NBC’sThe Voicewhen the show airs its 30th season later this year.
He announced the news via social media on Saturday (May 9). “I guess y’all can start calling me coach,” the singer wrote. “See ya this fall.”

Fans also got a first look at Green sitting in his new custom coaching chair, thanks from a special delivery from longtimeThe Voice coach Kelly Clarkson.

In his announcement post, Green also shared video of himself sitting in his tour bus when he gets avoicemail, and surprise package, from Clarkson.
“I am super stoked to coach alongside you. Welcome toThe Voice. I was stoked whenever I heard you were gonna be a coach, because I’m actually a superfan of your music. You’re so good,” Clarkson said in her message.

But fan or no,The Voice is a competition — and Clarkson initiated Green into his coaching role with a little light razzing.
“I think you’re gonna need the practice, because Team Kelly’s gonna whoop that a–,” she continued.
Hence the gift of a custom coaching chair, so that Green can practice his best coaching posture, and his “I Want You” button-hitting skills, beforeThe Voice kicks off in a few months.
Green took his new chair — which is adorned with duck calls in his honor — for a spin, sipping a drink and joking, “I could get used to this!”

The Voice typically follows a four-coach format, so it’s likely that a fourth star coach will be added to the roster in the weeks ahead.
Season 29 was unusual in that it featured only three coaches. Clarkson, Levine and John Legend — all prior winning coaches —signed on for a special season billed as theBattle of Champions.It’s not clear yet whether Legend will return for Season 30.
