Mariah Carey Tapped for Audible’s ‘Words + Music’ Series

R&B

Mariah Carey is the latest artist to participate in Audible’s Words + Music storytelling series, which debuts Thursday, May 23.

Carey’s installment, Portrait of a Portrait, will give listeners an intimate view of some of her compositions and the meaning behind them. “Portrait,” a fan-favorite ballad from Carey’s 2018 album Caution, is among the songs that will be featured in the episode. (Rated R&B ranked Caution No. 1 on its Best R&B Albums of 2018 list.)

Not only will Carey discuss the song in detail, but the Queen of Remixes will also share a never-before-heard house remix of the track.

Furthermore, according to Audible, listeners will also get an exclusive preview of Carey’s upcoming project, The Butterfly Lounge, described as “an intimate journey into her wondrous musical world.”

Portrait of a Portrait is an in-depth journey into my inner life as a songwriter, and I’m excited to welcome listeners into the Butterfly Lounge for a unique, unfiltered exploration of my creative process and the meaning behind some of the songs closest to my heart,” says Carey.

Previous Words + Music participants include John Legend, Brandy, Jazmine Sullivan, Smokey Robinson, George Clinton, and Gary Clark Jr.

In other news, Carey will resume her residency at Dolby Live in Las Vegas this summer. After selling out her spring run, Carey added more dates, with the first show of the second run set for July 26. Tickets are on sale now at ticketmaster.com.
