Jordan Hawkins Enlists Phabo For a ‘Timeless’ New Song

Jordan Hawkins has linked with Los Angeles-based artist Phabo for his new single “Timeless.” NAIVE, for which Hawkins is a part, produced the track.

The song interpolates Donell Jones’ 1999 classic “U Know What’s Up,” lifted from his sophomore album Where I Wanna Be.

On “Timeless,” the two R&B gents toy with the idea of having an enduring, exclusive relationship with their respective interests.

“Timeless” is Hawkins’ first new song of the year and his second collaboration in four months. He previously joined forces with Reggie Becton on “Screamin’,” released in late 2022.

Hawkins described his teamwork with Becton as “an organic collaboration between two artists that have been growing in LA together for a while.”

“Timeless” and “Screamin’” are expected to be featured on the final tracklist for Hawkins’ forthcoming EP, 4Play. The record has not yet received a secured release date.

4Play is the follow-up to Hawkins’ 2021 debut EP, Heart Won’t Stop. The seven-song project included features from EARTHGANG and Lish.

About the record, Hawkins told Rated R&B, “The Heart Won’t Stop EP is a collection of stories from my love life in Los Angeles. Deeper love has always inspired me to make more meaningful music and relationships definitely inspired the bulk of the EP.”

Phabo already has a tight grip on 2023. He’s released two songs, “Out of Touch” featuring Shaé Universe and the studio version of “Scorpio Moon.” The latter track was first previewed in his debut COLORS appearance last fall.

“Out of Touch” and “Scorpio Moon” will appear on Phabo’s upcoming release, still untitled and without a confirmed release date. It will follow his 2022 project Before I Let Her Go and his 2021 debut album, Soulquarius.
