BJ The Chicago Kid Releases New Song ‘The Chi’

R&B

BJ The Chicago Kid knows firsthand what it’s like living and growing up in The Windy City. That’s why the singer-songwriter was the perfect choice to record a new song called “The Chi,” named after the Showtime hit series.

The enlightening song, produced by Jairus Mozee, finds BJ giving listeners a walk-through on surviving in his hometown. It’s relatable to those born and raised there, as he sings about there being “no love in the heart of the city.”

The new song first appeared in episode three of season four of The Chi

BJ dropped his last album, 1123, in the summer of 2019. Following its release, he teamed up with a handful of his R&B peers, including Luke James (“Go Girl”), Joy Denalane (“I Believe”), and PJ Morton, Kenyon Dixon, and Charlie Bereal (“Bring it on Home to Me”).

He also shared other new songs such as “The People” and “Letter 2 U,” from the Judas and The Black Messiah soundtrack.
