Lasse Lokøy has announced his new album ‘& The Roommates’ and shared the single ‘Lot Of People Here’ – listen below.

The musician and producer, who came to prominence as the bassist in punk band Sløtface, released his debut solo record ‘Badminton’ in 2021 andhas collaborated withGirl In Red,UffieandNils Bech.

Now, he is back with ‘& The Roommates’,an album written in his bedroom studio in Los Angeles andincludingappearances fromSafario, Emma Jensen, Mikhael Paskalev and Vuyo. Itwill be released via his own labelGlimtenRecords on 9 January2026.

The first taste of the album is ‘LotOfPeople Here’,which foregrounds Lokøy’s lilting, languid vocals, with a loose, slacker DIY indie vibe matching the lyrics’ wandering self-examination. Watch the single’s video here:

Speaking about the track, Lokøyhas said:“It embodies two crises.An inner crisis of belonging, and the climate and political crisis of the world. I hopedI’dfind an answer while writing but instead found peace in the drifting.I’vedrifted far from where Istartedand Idon’tknow whereI’mgoing either.I guess I’llkeep on going.”

Lokøy has given fans an insight into the inspiration for the album:“I’vebeen inspired by diaristic writers lately. This is the first album where Ishowcasemore of myself as a singer-songwriter, whilepreviousalbums were more of a production showcase.It’snot a concept album.It’smore like a photo album, just inward instead of outward, capturing different versions of myself. Some moments areintense,some are fun and sweet. None of the words feel dishonest to me andthat’sall I can hold myself accountable for.”

NMEawarded his debut ‘Badminton’ four stars, writing: “‘Badminton’ is a bold statement from an artist with a very sophisticated pop palette and streetwise worldview;it seems hecan do what he likes and get away with it.”
