Maeta Says Collab Project With Kaytranada Is on the Way

R&B

Maeta and Kaytranada’s joint project is coming. The rising R&B singer, signed to Roc Nation, went to X (formerly Twitter) to share an update with her followers.

“MAETRANADA on the way,” Maeta wrote on X, with a 14-second video of her posing in a bikini as a snippet of an unreleased song plays.

“Don’t mind, you keeping me up all night / Well let me help you set the tone / Don’t mind, I know you can get me right,” Maeta sings in an airy falsetto over warm production.

Maeta first teased her Kaytranada-helmed project in a 2023 interview with Rated R&B. In her conversation, she discussed working with prolific songwriter James Fauntleroy, who appears on her project When I Hear Your Name.

“We were at the studio working on a Kaytranada project that I’m doing,” Maeta told Rated R&B. “He was writing some stuff for that. We were just talking about music. He played me ‘Sexual Love’ and I was like, ‘I need this song!’”

Maeta shared other details about her project with Kaytranada. “[There are] six songs, four written by Fallon [King] and two written by James Fauntleroy. I’m excited about that too.”

Kaytranada and Maeta first collaborated on her 2021 single “Teen Scene.” The Buddy-assisted track, which now has over 14 million streams on Spotify, appears on her Habits EP. The Canadian producer also produced “Questions,” track five on When I Hear Your Name.

Maeta closed 2023 with When I Hear Your Name (Live), which featured live versions of seven songs from the original project.

This summer, Maeta will join Chris Brown on his 11:11 Tourwhich will also see support from Ayra Starr and Muni Long. Maeta collaborated with Brown on “Best Ever” from his latest album, 11:11
