R&B

Jorja Smith will be making an appearance in the Metaverse. Meta Quest has announced the British singer will perform a concert in Music Valley, a virtual music festival experience in Horizon Worlds.

Smith’s show, in partnership with iHeartRadio, is set for Monday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m. PT. Fans can tune in to the free concert via their Meta Quest headset.

According to Meta Quest, Music Valley is “set within a desert oasis VR experience” and “features a 180˚ mainstage screen.”

Smith will perform material from her sophomore album, falling or flyingThe project, which includes singles such as the confident “Try Me” and the flirty “Little Things,” was among Rated R&B’s 25 R&B Albums of 2023 list.

For those who may miss the show, or want to see it again, the full concert will be available to watch up to three weeks after its premiere.

Smith’s upcoming concert will follow Victoria Monét’s show, which debuted in early December.

Meta Quest has also announced that genre-bending star Doja Cat’s The Scarlet Tour in VR will premiere on Jan. 20 at 5 p.m. ET.

The concert will include live renditions of Doja’s latest hits, including “Paint The Town Red” and “Agora Hills.” According to Meta, the show will be available for one month after its debut date.

“Bringing The Scarlet Tour to life was an amazing experience for me. Taking it from an idea to real life and sharing that with my fans at arenas was surreal and rewarding,” says Doja Cat. “To now be able to share the live show through VR with Meta and The Diamond Bros for Doja Cat: The Scarlet Tour in VR is a perfect way for fans who did not get to come to a show to feel like they did. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we have created.”

Circling back to Smith, the singer appears on The Book of Clarence soundtrack, out today (Jan. 12). She is featured on “Champagne” with Jeymes Samuel, who also directed the film. The soundtrack also includes contributions from D’Angelo, JAY-Z, Doja Cat, Lil Wayne and more.

Smith also appears on The Color Purple (Music From and Inspired By), which released Dec. 15, 2023, via gamma.

RSVP for Jorja Smith’s VR concert in Meta Horizon Worlds.
