The Fugees Cancel Reunion Tour

Hip Hop

Ready? Or Not.

On Friday (Jan. 21), The Fugees announced that they have canceled their upcoming reunion due to the continued COVID pandemic.

Initially to kick off last Fall, the group announced in October that they were postponing into 2022.

“We anticipate and understand the disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen” says The Fugees in a statement. “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe. And idea sparked to honor and celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not current be our time for revisiting this past work. We’re grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment. If opportunity, public safety, and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. THANK YOU for all your love and support throughout the years.”

In September, the trio first announced the reunion tour to coincide with the 25th anniversary of their iconic 1996 album, The Score. Days later, Wyclef, Lauryn Hill and Pras performed for the first time in over 15 years at the Global Citizen Live at Pier 17 in New York.
