Tiana Major9‘s name and voice are linked to the Small Axe soundtrack, music inspired by the five-film anthology series that dives deep into the Black Caribbean experience in Britain.
The Grammy-nominated singer hooks up with self-proclaimed creative connoisseur PRGRSHN, who laced her with the production for her cover of Janet Kay’s 1979 classic “Silly Games.”
Major9’s voice excels here as she attempts to work up the nerve to approach an admired interest. But since they aren’t making the first move either, she opts not to pursue the pointless affair.
“I can see it in your eyes / But I’ve got no time to live this lie / No, I’ve got no time to play your silly games,” she sings.
The official Small Axe soundtrack will be released on June 11.
Back in April, Major9 released the project At Sixes and Sevens Remixed. It featured collaborative, reworked songs from her highly-praised At Sixes and Sevens project, which was crowned one of the best R&B albums of 2020 by Rated R&B.
More new music is coming down the pipeline for Major9 this year. She teased the impending details in a Grammy profile with Rated R&B in March.
