Witchcraft Return with “Burning Cross,” the First Glimpse of Their Soul-Reaping New Album IDAG

Witchcraft – Burning Cross

Swedish doom mystics Witchcraft have conjured another spellbinding chapter with their upcoming album IDAG, set for release on May 23 via Heavy Psych Sounds. The first single, “Burning Cross,” is a smoldering invocation of their signature ‘70s-laced, riff-heavy sorcery—both raw and hypnotic, yet laced with an unsettling intensity that lingers long after the final note fades.

Following the stark, acoustic departure of 2020’s Black Metal, IDAG marks Magnus Pelander’s return to full-band, electric doom, weaving together monolithic riffs, psychedelic textures, and eerie, soul-baring vocals. Pelander himself sets the tone, proclaiming, “This album will reap souls and destroy wicked minds. And perhaps mend a couple of broken ones.” If “Burning Cross” is any indication, he’s not exaggerating.

The track exudes that classic Witchcraft alchemy—heavy yet deeply melancholic, brimming with the occult doom energy that made their early records cult favorites. Pelander’s haunting delivery carries a world-weary weight, while the instrumentation feels both expansive and intimate, pulling listeners into the band’s murky, spellbound world.
