Something about Something Borrowed just hit different in 2011. The film, based on Emily Giffin’s bestselling novel, was the messy New York City romance flick that millennials ate UP back then.

The movie didn’t get the most stellar reviews at the time, but we think it’s much better than the criticism it got. Here’s why: Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) has been hopelessly in love with Dex (Colin Egglesfield) since law school, but he’s engaged to her best friend, Darcy (Kate Hudson). A drunken confession leads Rachel and Dex to finally give in to their feelings, betraying Darcy in the process. As they attempt to keep this secret and their long-held feelings at bay, there’s forced proximity in the Hamptons, a rain scene, Darcy being lovably annoying, and an iconic besties dance scene to Salt-N-Pepa’s “Push It.”

Oh, and John Krasinski‘s Ethan, Rachel’s best friend, is totally swoonworthy in a way Dex couldnever be. (Rachel, you messed up with this one.)

Something Borrowed turned 15 in May, and the main cast has continued to embrace the romance genre through the years. In honor of the film’s anniversary, Swooon is doing a deep dive into where the stars are now.

The same year Goodwin starred in Something Borrowed, she began her reign as Snow White in ABC’s Once Upon a Time. That’s where she met her now-husband, Josh Dallas. They married in 2014 and have two children. Following the end of Once Upon a Time in 2018, Goodwin has remained in the Disney family, notably voicing Judy Hopps in the Zootopia movies.
