Wendy Stuart and guest co-host Evan Laurence will be hosting TriVersity Talk! this Wednesday at 7 PM ET with featured guest Dwayne Brown.
TriVersity Talk! is a weekly web series with featured guests discussing their lives, activism and pressing issues in the LGBTQ Community. With TriVersity Talk!, the goal is to laugh and learn.
TriVersity Talk! Is part of TriVersity’s ICARE Initiative. ICARE stands for Increasing Community Awareness through Relevant Education. ICARE Programs are generously funded by The Greater Pike Community Foundation.
Evan Laurence is a musician, singer/songwriter, improv actor, milliner and creator of couture. He has performed and produced solo and variety shows at Don’t Tell Mama, Pangea, House of Yes, LITM and FM in Jersey City as part of Jersey City Pride, performing parody and original songs. Evan is #211 of Best of 2020 on Jim Silvestri’s popular nightlife blog https://www.thotyssey.com and is proud to be a regular performer in Chauncey Dandridge’s GLAM award nominated “Freak Out.”
Dwayne Brown is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and in 2021 he launched Brown Group Wellness, a group practice focused on providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, family, friends and group workshop to clients as they explore life’s experiences and challenges. He graduated in 2016 from Lehman College and began his career working with marginalized minority youth and adults experiencing acute and chronic trauma. This trauma lens continues to inform and provides a sensitivity to my work today.
Dwayne is certified in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and has practiced Buddhism for 15 years. Dwayne brings a rich, enlightened and empathetic attunement to his work. Before becoming a social worker, he had an extensive 20+ year marketing career in Cable Affiliate Marketing for brands such as MTVN, Disney, ABC Networks and ESPN. He then moved to the fashion industry, opening a wholesale fashion showroom representing emerging women’s contemporary brands.
Dwayne lives in New York City and the hamlet of Narrowsburg, NY with this partner of 11 years and their 2 dogs. They bought their weekend home in 2016 at a point when they were becoming complacent with the city. Quickly, Dwayne became involved in the community. He teaches a weekly spin class at a local gym, organized successful LGBTQIA+ NYE parties. And has served on the board of the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance (DVAA) and Catskills Pride. Resigning from both recently, Dwayne is focusing on the expansion of his business and spending more time upstate doing what he loves most; continuing to build community, renovate an 1891 farmhouse, relaxing and gardening.
