Back in January, we learned that Trivium’s Matt Heafy and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda would be collaborating on a new track via their respective highly-successful Twitch channels.
The fruit of those labors is now ripe. “In Defiance” features vocals and guitars by Heafy and production and programming by Shinoda; the duo share songwriting credit.
Heafy calls the track “unlike anything I’ve ever created,” and that’s not hype. It’s not too hard to tell it’s a partnership between the dude who wrote “The Sin and the Sentence” and the dude who wrote “Session,” but I also think that undersells it.

This is Heafy’s second unexpected-but-not-unwelcome team-up this month: a coupla weeks ago, he and Richard Marx released an updated version of Marx’s megahit “Right Here Waiting.”
