Track Premiere: Time And The Hunter Debut Three Tracks

Time And The Hunter, an experimental electronica group formed by ex-Dark Tranquillity guitarist Niklas Sundin and The Moor main-brain Enrico Longhin, debut three tracks from their forthcoming Inertia Music debut, Weapon Pt. I. While most fans have come to recognize Sundin’s post-NWOSDM (also the much-missed Laethora) work as a visual artist for Dark Tranquillity, Arch Enemy, In Flames, The Halo Effect, and countless others, he’s kept busy with post-metal/ambient projects under the Mitochondrial Sun moniker, where he explores the intensity of melody, dissonance, and repetition. As for Longhin, his craftiness in progressive metallers The Moor and metalcore bruisers Disrooted has afforded the Italian a powerful voice in the same urban cathedrals as Ulver’s Kristoffer Rygg.

Time And The Hunter isn’t metal per se. Actually, it’s not metal at all, but it shares similar sonic traits — darkness, melancholy, a foreboding atmosphere. The group’s three tracks off debut Weapon Pt. I are a testament to Sundin and Longhin’s longing for digital decay and organic dissolution. Decibel is proud to announce the streaming of “Mycelium”, “The Great Disturbance” and “The Following Silence,” featuring Dark Tranquillity/Cemetery Skyline/The Halo Effect/Grand Cadaver frontman Mikael Stanne.

“It’s a deeply introspective piece,” says Longhin. “When we reached this stage of the arrangements, we immediately thought of Mikael as a guest. He had been following the project’s development behind the scenes, and his contribution to the lyrics was a perfect fit for both his voice and the song’s message.”

Adds Sundin: “‘The Following Silence’ is probably the song on the album that took the longest time to complete. It went through quite a few iterations before things fell into place, and during the process it grew more and more obvious that having Mikael’s voice on it would be a perfect match. Luckily he agreed, and I’m very, very happy with the result.”
