Track Premiere: Ghosts of Glaciers – ‘Leviathan’

Metal

You may have heard this before, but here at Decibel Magazine, we like things from Denver. The city’s thriving metal scene is constantly producing new music, the latest being Ghosts of Glaciers‘ new album Eternal. The instrumental trio utilize a variety of sounds and influences in their music, but they’re focused on doom with “Leviathan,” the first preview of Eternal.

Sprawling out over four minutes, the new song combines thunderous chugs with black metal tendencies, requiring max-volume listening for proper enjoyment.

Speaking about the new track, guitarist Steven Jackson tells Decibel:

“This is one of the most high energy songs on the album and it’s actually part one of a two-part composition. ‘Leviathan’ starts out strong right away and progresses into some chaotic but beautiful passages that swirl and explode like a raging tempest. It is a great example of the more intense elements of this new record.”

And speaking more generally about Eternal, he described the album as:

“We are thrilled to finally share this new album with the world. It is our strongest offering to date and features our most emotionally gripping and crushingly heavy material yet.”
