The Swon Brothers Honor Lost Soldiers with “Rifle Left Behind” – Country Music News Blog

Country

>The Swon Brothers are taking a moment this holiday weekend to stop and acknowledge the immeasurable sacrifice our servicemen and women make with their latest single, “Rifle Left Behind,” out just in time for Memorial Day.  STREAM HERE

The Swon Brothers Honor Lost Soldiers with Rifle Left Behind

The quietly powerful tune uses a family rifle handed down through the generations to illustrate the countless stories of tradition, honor, sacrifice, and loss that so many American families have experienced and endured over the decades, through all the conflicts, and to pay tribute to those selfless heroes who give so much. The song was written and produced solely by the brothers and features only strings in the stripped-down, acoustic track.

“There’s no fluff, smoke, or mirrors with this one.  Just a couple of guitars and some relatable lyrics.  People will love it or hate it.  This is my favorite kind of song to write,” said Zach Swon about the moving new song.

“This song takes me straight to my family roots.  It says something worth saying,” adds Colton Swon.

The new single will appear on the Swons’ latest project, a new acoustic EP called IMAGINE CABIN SESSIONS, which is due out later this year.

“Rifle Left Behind” is featured today on Radio SoBro’s “NuMu Friday” at 10am CT and 2:30pm CT HERE

COMMENTS FROM THE MEDIA

“Chilling. The Swon Brothers once again managed to do what they do best — write songs and give an emotionally-packed delivery — on ‘Rifle Left Behind.’ More than just an amazing song, by two amazing singers, ‘Rifle Left Behind’ is a beautiful reminder of the power of one song. Simply stunning.” Gayle Thompson, Owner/Editor-in-Chief, Everything Nash

“‘Rifle Left Behind’ is a truly heartfelt song that serves as a relatable memory for many who have lost a loved one who took them hunting or gave their life while serving our country. The emotional delivery of this song mixed with the beautiful harmonies these two brothers produce made this song so special. It is moving and REAL. I for one, greatly miss the man who left his rifles behind and my eyes welled up with tears as I listened. “Simplicity. It doesn’t diminish value. It REVEALS it. With ‘Rifle Left Behind,’ the Swon Brothers showcase the strength of their vocals with a lovely yet spare arrangement, allowing the lyric to better penetrate what has become a pretty noisy world. Well done, gentlemen; this one hits the target.”  Jeff McMahon, ACM-nominated keyboardist and host of the McMahon on Keys podcast.

“The lyrics in this song speak volumes to our veterans who sacrificed so much, in some cases everything, so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we have today. From antlers on the wall, to those who took the fall. Great job The Swon Brothers.”  Tim Kelly, President KICR Indie Country Radio/The Tim Kelly Show
