The-Dream and Usher Link Up for Tampa

R&B

The-Dream has teamed up with Usher for “Tampa,” the second offering from his new album Love/Hate II.

On the Pharrell Williams production, The-Dream and Usher trade lines about giving a woman the lavish treatment she deserves, while reminding her of where her estranged lover is falling short.

“Givenchy’s in the air / Man, this sh*t ain’t fair / Got Balenciaga, boy, I got her falling out the air,” Usher sings, before joining in for the hook: “This is where your man should be / Instead of worrying ’bout me.”

“Tampa” is The-Dream and Usher’s first collaboration since “Cold Blooded” from Usher’s ninth album,Coming Home (2024). The-Dream co-wrote three other songs on that album, including “Bop,” “Margiela” and “I Love U.”

Before then, the two collaborated on The-Dream’s “Forget About Her” in 2016. He also lent his pen to Usher’s 2008 album, Here I Stand, including on “Moving Mountains” and “Trading Places.”

“Tampa” is the follow-up to “Bring That Body,” which dropped at the start of May. Both songs will appear onLove/Hate II, arriving July 10 via RadioKilla Records/Republic Records.

Love/Hate II is the sequel to The-Dream’s debut album, Love/Hate (2007), which included classics such as “Shawty Is Da Sh*t,” “I Luv Your Girl” and “Fast Car.”
