Testament to Release a Remastered Version of Practice What You Preach, Envy Life Streaming Now

Metal

Awwww shit, guys. When it comes to the best thrash bands of all time, you can easily consider Testament to be on that list because they put out banger albums out for decades now. And among those releases was Practice What You Preach, a killer album from 1989. Earlier today, it was announced that the band is reissuing a remastered version of that album and to mark the occasion, they released the remastered version of “Envy Life”.

The classic 1989 album represented a big moment for the band. It was the first time they had an album hit the Top 100 on the Billboard 200 charts. The title track was getting air time on the radio and their music videos were regular staples on things like MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball. If you don’t know why “radio”, “MTV”, or “Headbanger’s Ball” were important to a metal band during that time, you’re probably too young. Just know it was a big deal.

This new version of Practice What You Preach was remastered by Justin Shturtz at Sterling Sound. When May 8 hits, it will be available digitally, along with a 180G vinyl on Yellow and Orange Swirl with Black Splatter (limited to 1250 worldwide) and is packaged with brand new artwork from the original cover artist Bill Benson. The album will come with a 20 page booklet showcasing old photos and documents provided by Chuck Billy and Eric Peterson and new liner notes, too.

Speaking of the upcoming release, Billy said this was a killer opportunity to bring the classic album to new and younger audiences.

“I am stoked about the remastered Practice What You Preach release with Nuclear Blast. With new artwork and bigger sound than the original. Drop the needle and bang your head!!”

Practice What You Preach (2026 Remaster) will be released on May 8 via Nuclear Blast Records, but you can preorder your copy today.
