SZA Earns Nine New RIAA Certifications

R&B

SZA’s “Love Galore” is still in great demand. The Travis Scott-assisted track has been certified 6x multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It is now the most-certified release from her acclaimed debut album Ctrl

SZA shares another new RIAA award with Scott. Her 2019 collaboration with Scott and The Weeknd, “Power is Power,” from the eighth and final season of HBO’s Games of Thrones, is now certified gold, exceeding 500,000 equivalent units. So far, it has amassed 147 million streams on Spotify.

Going back to SZA’s non-soundtrack material, she also earned four plaques for a few songs from Ctrl. The ThankGod4Cody-produced single “The Weeknd” is now certified 5x multi-platinum with equivalent sales of over five million. Dvsn recently named the song one of the five most honest anthems while promoting their new conversational single, “If I Get Caught.”

“Broken Clocks,” also produced by ThankGod4Cody, is now certified 4x multi-platinum. “Garden (Say It Like Dat),” produced by Bēkon, is now 2x multi-platinum, while “Normal Girl” reached platinum.

As for SZA’s debut album itself, Ctrl is now 3x multi-platinum. Released June 9, 2017, the Grammy-nominated set had its fifth anniversary celebrated by SZA with an expanded version that included seven unreleased songs. Rated R&B honored the album by ranking all its songs with music videos.

SZA’s two other platinum awards include “Hit Different” featuring Ty Dolla $ign (2x multi-platinum) and “I Hate U” (platinum). The latter track topped urban radio in March, around the same time Cardi B hopped on the extended version of Summer Walker’s “No Love,” on which SZA features.

Her nine new certifications follow three others from this year. SZA previously gained an award for “Kiss Me More” with Doja Cat (4x multi-platinum), “I Do” with Cardi B (2x multi-platinum) and “Good Days” (3x multi-platinum).

Speaking of Doja Cat, at the 64th Grammy Awards, she and SZA won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Kiss Me More.” It marked SZA’s first win after 14 career nominations.

While doing press afterward, she confirmed she had recently completed her sophomore album in Hawaii. She even teased what fans can expect from the forthcoming work. “It’s probably my most unisex project yet — if that makes sense. It’s definitely for everybody in a different way.”

In July, SZA joined forces with her her Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate Doechii for “Persuasive (Remix).”

Later this fall, SZA will headline night one (Friday) of the two-weekend Austin City Limits Music Festival in Austin, Texas. Get lineup and ticket information here.
