Green Day made headlines earlier this year when theyplayed the Super Bowl opening ceremonyat Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on February 8.

Billie Joe Armstrong and co. performed a medley of classic songs from their back catalogue, including the politically charged ‘American Idiot’. Armstrong did not, however, sing the tweaked line “I’m not part of the MAGA agenda”as he has done at recent shows.

The trio’s reluctance to make any political statement was a surprise to many, with some taking to social media to express their disappointment at the perceived missed opportunity.
