Muni Long Deals With ‘Pain’ on New Song

R&B

Muni Long turns the tables on “Pain,” the second single issued under her new Def Jam Recordings deal. The previously teased track from social media was produced by JayUncut, who has worked with artists like Rubi Rose and Cuban Doll.

On “Pain,” built around a steel guitar and programmed drums, Long has vengeance in her voice as she relishes in the idea of an ex suffering the same agonizing emotion she did for them.

She sings in the chorus, “I hope you cry, I hope it cross your mind at least once a day.”

Long said in a press statement that “Pain” is for anyone who has “ever been in love and had your heartbroken.”

As expected, Long shared the music video for her latest single. Co-directed with Tony Bowen, the visual sees a house in disarray after Long seemingly tears it apart.

Her reason is simple: the heartbreak a past interest has caused. So she mops around the house for a bit, singing that song as she self-medicates before turning her misery into joy.

Long released “Another” and its supporting video in April, following the platinum announcement of her breakout single “Hrs and Hrs.” The former tune has made incredible noise on urban radio, steadily gaining radio spins and increasing audience impressions inside the top 20 of the format.

“Hrs and Hrs” topped urban radio earlier this spring, becoming her first number-one single at radio.

Long will perform at the annual Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. The two-day festival takes place on June 4 and 5.
