Okay so hear me out—if you knew you had beef with some b-words over some bullshit, how far would you let a situation like this go? I feel like the answer would not be very far, but I also know that planning a tour and putting together bills is no easy feat, so I’ll hush on that. I’m saying all of this because it appears that some heat from a few years ago is bubbling up to the surface. Specifically, British death metal band Dragged Into Sunlight have kicked black metal band meth. off their upcoming North American tour. I’ll elaborate…
Why did they kick meth. off a tour they probably shouldn’t have been booked as support for in the first place? Well, because meth. used to be affiliated with Prosthetic Records, which DIS has hated for like six years now. They separated from the label back in 2019, citing what they felt were unethical practices throughout the label that rubbed them all sorts of the wrong way. At some point, meth. also separated themselves from Prosthetic, but that wasn’t enough for DIS to keep meth. in touring tow.
Meth. posted the following on their Instagram story about the whole thing:
“We will have a full statement in the coming days but DIS (Dragged Into Sunlight) has kicked us off our upcoming tour due to our prior association with Prosthetic Records. A label we are no longer a part of. If you bought tickets to see us we sincerely apologize, this was nothing we could control.”
As a refresher, here’s the statement DIS released back in 2019 that started it all:
“Dragged Into Sunlight has opted to end its relationship with Prosthetic Records. We feel that the ethics and practices of Prosthetic Records no longer reflect what Dragged Into Sunlight is about. Please feel free to continue supporting this label if you wish, however, know that they have not supported us. We probably need a new label to press our records. Get in touch.”
At the time of me writing this, DIS has not released a statement on this new development.
