Mary J. Blige’s ‘Still Believe in Love’ Debuts on Billboard

R&B

Mary J. Blige has secured a new entry on Billboard’s Adult R&B Airplay chart this week. Her latest single, “Still Believe In Love,” debuts at No. 28 on the airplay chart for the week dated Nov. 4, 2023.

The Vado-featured track marks Blige’s 61st entry on the Adult R&B chart since it began in September 1993.

Her first appearance on the chart was in January 1994 with “You Don’t Have To Worry,” which was part of the What’s the 411? Remix album that was released in December 1993. It peaked at No. 20.

Blige also has another reason to celebrate. “Still Believe In Love” is Blige’s first song on her newly established label, Beautiful Life Music, to debut on the Adult R&B chart. The label also houses the R&B boy band WanMor.

Blige achieved Adult R&B chart success in 2022 with two songs: “Good Morning Gorgeous” and “Here With Me.”

The former song, co-produced by D’Mile and H.E.R., held the top spot for four consecutive weeks. On the other hand, the latter song, which featured Anderson .Paak, peaked at No. 4 in September 2022.

“Still Believe In Love” was released Oct. 27. The track, co-produced by DJ Cassidy and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman, samples “C.O.D. (I’ll Deliver)” by chart-topping band Mtume.

At this publishing, “Still Believe In Love” is No. 1 on iTunes’ R&B Songs chart.

The official video, co-directed by Blige and Eif Rivera, also reached No. 1 on iTunes R&B Music Videos. It’s now at No. 2 at the time of publication.

Elsewhere, Blige’s brand new track has made waves on R&B radio. It was the No. 1 added song on the format last week, with 30 adds. It rests at No. 29 this week.

It is unclear whether “Still Believe In Love” will be featured on any of Blige’s future projects.

Blige could be performing the track at the upcoming inaugural Honeyland Festival.

The two-day event will take place on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 at the Crown Festival Park in Sugar Land, Texas. Blige will be headlining the second day of the festival.
