True to form, Mary J. Blige steps back out strong in the fourth quarter and releases two brand new singles: “Good Morning Gorgeous” and “Amazing” featuring DJ Khaled.
“Good Morning Gorgeous,” a downtempo composition that greets herself in appreciation for life at the break of day, was produced by the Oscar and Grammy-winning D’Mile. H.E.R., Tiara Thomas, and David Brown offer songwriting assist.
“I wake up every morning and tell myself / Good morning gorgeous / Sometimes you gotta look in the mirror and say / Good morning gorgeous,” she professes.
On the thumping “Amazing,” Blige, flowing in a swag, relishes in the blessings that keep pouring in abundance. She references her wine collection Sun Goddess and declares that it’s her season.
Blige will finally turn her full attention to a new album in early 2022. Her 14th studio LP and first since 2017’s Strength of a Woman is slated to arrive in January ahead of her anticipated co-headlining appearance during the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show in Inglewood, California.
She will get it crunk on the SoFi Stadium stage on Feb. 13, 2022, with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem.
In recent months, Blige has celebrated album milestones for No More Drama and My Life II: The Journey Continues (Act 1).
