When the Los Angeles wildfires devastated the area in early 2025, MarcLo turned to what he knows best: music. The singer-songwriter’s debut album,11 Days, takes its title from that period of isolation, where he constructed a new sonic world.
11 Daysis a melting pot of R&B, hip-hop, jazz, disco, pop and indie folk that flows without a hitch. It feels as though MarcLo dove into the album with no restraints, giving himself the freedom to create what naturally spoke to him in the moment. And it’s no surprise that he blended genres, considering he’s written for a range of artists, including Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Teddy Swims and most recently BTS.
Across the album’s tracks, MarcLo examines his relationship with money (“Muni“), shows gratitude to his support system (“Interest“) and finds himself spellbound by his partner (“Marvel“). On the dancefloor-ready “Zoom Out,” MarcLo takes a step back from overthinking to allow life to do its thing. “We lose ourselves in meaning / It’s alright, I want you to / Zoom out,” he sings on the catchy chorus.
“We lose ourselves in trying to find the meaning of why things are the way they are. Sometimes, we have to take a moment and ‘Zoom Out’ of our circumstances and see the hope and good that can come from where we are,” MarcLo told Rated R&B. “Life is a beautiful journey if we allow it to be. This song helps me find that point of view.”
He keeps the groove going on “September Baby,” which plays like an anthem for Virgos but will have every Zodiac doing their best two-step. “September baby you shine so bright / Bringing joy like morning light,” he sings on the ’90s-inspired jam.
Regarding11 Days, he said, “I’m so grateful that I was chosen to create this work of art. This album is so special to me and was created purely to uplift my friends and neighbors who were affected by the LA fires in 2025. I want my listeners to be able to press play on this album and cruise from start to finish feeling joy, healing, excitement, inspiration and whatever emotion arises. It was important for me to spend those 11 Days creating this album because if I didn’t, this beautiful moment would have never existed.”
In celebration of the album’s release, MarcLo has partnered with MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s nonprofit organization, to support wildfire recovery efforts in Los Angeles. After making a personal contribution, he encourages fans and listeners to join him in supporting those impacted by the wildfires through a dedicated donation link.
