Lauren Alaina has been transparent aboutthe breastfeeding issues that she’sexperiencing with her newborn daughter, Beni, but it goes a lot deeper than she has revealed on her social media pages.
“I have been through it with the breastfeeding. I am breastfeeding, but, we’ve had quite the journey,” she tellsTaste of Country Nightsduring a recent visit to the studio.
“Beni had latching problems. She had a really severe tongue tie, so she didn’t latch properly until she was about a month old,” the “Road Less Traveled” singer and new mom shares.
She admits that breastfeeding has not been easy for her at all — or for baby Beni — but, “we have fought for it and we are doing it now.”
Alainasays they’re also doing some bottle-feeding, so dad can help and, the mom says,”so we could keep her alive.”
The once-American Idol star reveals that she’s beenmom-shamedmore than once online due to the fact that she’s bottle feeding, and her daughter is only two months old.
So, Alaina didn’t hold back and clapped back at Karens telling her she’s not doing her best.
“I was triple feeding my child at the time. I was breastfeeding her, bottle feeding her and pumping every time I fed her, so that we could have a chance at primarily breastfeeding,” she explains in the interview with TOCN.
“I have friends who couldn’t breast feed and have formula fed their babies from the beginning and they’re fine,” she concludes.
