Spark up a fat one and get comfortable, because the mighty Kal-El are back. After releasing the highly touted Astral Voyager Vol. 1 earlier this year, they’re not quite done releasing new tunes. Set for release on March 20 via Majestic Mountain Records and Blue Funeral Recordings, the Norwegian doom stoner outfit will put out Astral Voyager Vol. 2.
If your’e a fan of infectious hooks and riffs for days, then this shit should be right up your alley. Frankly, if you already enjoy stoner or doom metal, Kal-El should be a staple in your rotation.
For those keeping track of the lore within Astral Voyager, this new album continues the story of interstellar bounty hunter Mica, who’s currently on the lam from The Nine. According to the band, this album is “about the dangers of manipulation and struggling for individuality against the unseen powers who try to keep us compliant and controlled.”
So basically, it’s sci-fi goodness imbued with desert rock sounds and towering riffs bound to make any smoke sesh feel complete.
To celebrate the new album announcement, Kal-El released the new album’s first single “Juno,” which you can check out below. It’s got all the fuzzy riffs you can want with soaring vocal harmonies floating throughout the track. It’s a groover, for sure.
