Juno Rucker Releases Feel-Good Song ‘Pretty People’

Las Vegas-based singer/songwriter Juno Rucker has released his new single “Pretty People.”

On the self-penned and produced track, Rucker’s lustrous vocals glide over warm guitar chords as he cherishes precious moments with a former acquaintance.

“All the pretty people run in / Leave your shoes at the door please / I gave ’em a lot just to throw it away / Like I wouldn’t even know / Like I wouldn’t even know / I gave ’em a lot just to throw it away and start over again / But I let you be by my side,” Rucker sings.

Regarding “Pretty People,” Rucker explains to Rated R&B, “This song is for all the pretty people. It’s about late drunken nights and appreciating the times we had with people that may not have valued us when they should’ve. It’s about letting the good times roll but never forgetting what was said.”

Rucker says the song’s title was inspired by a kickback he had with some friends in Las Vegas. “I had a bonfire at my house with roommates and many friends from the art scene in Vegas. It was meant to be intimate. It was an amazing time — so many ‘Pretty People.’ This song means that everyone there was a pretty person. In and out.”

“Pretty People” is the lead single from Rucker’s upcoming debut album, Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid, out June 16 via EveryDejaVu Records.

“It’s for everyone who feels alone in their thoughts and feel like they can’t make a change to their life or others,” says Rucker of his album. “You can. Just listen.”

Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid is dedicated to Rucker’s late grandmother Ruthy. He was inspired to embark on his musical journey after losing his grandmother to a terminal illness.

Rucker later experienced his own health complications and turned to music as a source of solace. “Music was the only thing saving me at the time. It still is,” he states.

Rucker was born in Houston, Texas, and moved to Las Vegas at age seven. Some of his musical inspirations include Lauryn Hill, Dominic Fike, Frank Ocean and Sade.
