Iyla Releases New Song and Video ‘Sad Bitch Bad Bitch’

R&B

Iyla has an anthem on her hands. The emerging singer/songwriter has released her new song “Sad Bitch Bad Bitch,” and she snaps with a self-assured attitude that’s hard to deny.

Built around a bass-heavy, horned-soaked beat, “Sad Bitch Bad Bitch” is blunt and unfiltered, finding Iyla putting away the Kleenex for good after adjusting infinitely to romantic disappointments. Instead, she’s choosing to make her pain a reason to be flawless at every turn as she conceals what’s behind the glitz and glam.

“Pretty girls don’t cry-y-y / We don’t drip mascara, we don’t bleed / I don’t need you, and that’s no lie / Here you go again, I-I-I / I won’t go chasin’ waterfalls / Never got no TLC from you,” she snaps in a verse.

Iyla shows the definition of being unemotional and unfazed by a former philanderer in the black-and-white video for “Sad Bitch Bad Bitch.” Aloof from any previous feelings, Iyla, and her all-woman latex posse, strut on a rooftop, flaunting their demand to be respected by the male race. Patrick “Embryo” Tapu directed the video.

“I believe our power is in ALL of who we are, not just the best parts, I am my best and my worst. That is the very human dichotomy of sad bitch bad bitch,” said Iyla in a statement about the return single.

“Sad Bitch Bad Bitch,” co-produced alongside Kadis, is the first single from Iyla in a hot second. She last conquered the scene with Other Ways to Vent, her 2020 EP. The seven-track release was powered by the focus single, “Cash Rules,” featuring rap legend Method Man.
