Metal

Greetings, Decibel readers!

This week’s new releases include the latest in heavy madness from Necrodeath, Onirophagus, Häxkapell and more! It’s a great week across the metal spectrum: from death-doom, to classic blackened-thrash, to weird and angular death metal. Ok, so maybe not the whole spectrum, but some of the best parts of it for sure.

Häxkapell – Om jordens blod och urgravens grepp

Epic, flowing, all-enveloping black metal from Sweden. Fans of Enslaved should really dig this, especially people who embrace that band’s post-Blodhemn work. People with a taste for Havukruunu and Windir will find a lot to love here as well.

Hierarchies – Hierarchies

I deeply respect bands that keep it brutal while also keeping it weird. And this is super-weird in the Gorguts and Demilich sense of the death metal world.

Necrodeath – Arimortis

The pentagram shines upon us once more. Italy’s Necrodeath is back doing what they do best: tearing souls up with righteous, thrashy, deathy black metal goodness. Necrodeath always had their own brand of extremity alongside their German, Brazilian and Scandinavian counterparts, and it’s sick to hear them still at it.

Necrotech – Necrotechnology

Meanwhile, here is Necrotech. Death-doom traditionally is steeped in personal, romantic, or naturalistic themes, so it’s super-rad to hear the sound smashed into the assembly line of industrial music. It rocks. It would make an awesome soundtrack to the shootout scene from The Crew.

Onirophagus – Revelations From The Void

Ooooooooouuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhh!!!!!
