Metal

Greetings, Decibel readers!

You get new Darkthrone and Deicide albums in the same week, so stop complaining.

Cheers!

Baron – Beneath The Blazing Abyss

An absolutely crushing blend of Bolt Thrower, Incantation, and Vader that will leave you feeling like the dude on the front cover by the end of it all. But in a good way, you won’t actually burst into flames and start melting.

Bestial Colony – Sordid Decay

A re-recording of material from 1990-1991 that bears the mark of its early origins. The sound has some thrashy and punky elements, but clearly shows shadows of death metal and black metal clouds on the horizon. The quality of the music should make us very grateful that Nefarious took the initiative to bring these tunes back to life.

Darkthrone – It Beckons Us All

Darkthrone has been many things over the last few decades, but somehow has always remained Darkthrone. The band’s special blend of Celtic Frost and Bathory shines through with whatever style they adopt. On this album, the band is clearly leaning in a progressive rock and metal direction. Again, it’s Darkthrone, so you know it’ll be worth it, whatever it is.

Deicide – Banished By Sin

A solid effort by one of death metal’s most storied institutions. The singles will probably get the most attention, but direct your ears to the true gems of the album when you get the chance: “Woke From God” and “A Trinity of None.”

Tombstoner – Rot Stink Rip

From our full album stream:

“The influence from Power Trip and Pig Destroyer is immediately felt on Rot Stink Rip, from the slow, ominous intro “Execution Bell” to the spastic riffs of the title track and the dual vocal approach found throughout the album. The dual guitar/dual vocal approach, plus punchy-as-fuck production and mastering from Ben Karras, makes everything heavier, adding an extra punch to the already rock solid musicianship.”
