Cody Johnson will be among the many musical greats gracing the American Idol stage during the singing competition show’s season finale.
Airing live on Sunday (May 19), beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern, the long-running ABC program will see its top three contestants duke it out for the title. One of the hopefuls, be it Jack Blocker, Abi Carter or Will Moseley, will be dubbed the next American Idol.
Also set to soundtrack the Season 22 send-off alongside Johnson will be fellow country act Wynonna, joining the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, New Kids on the Block, Jason Mraz, Hootie & the Blowfish, CeCe Winans, Seal, Bishop Briggs, James Bay, and the program’s Season 14 winner Nick Fradiani.
The show’s panel of judges – made up of veteran artists Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie – will also take the spotlight for their own respective performances.
Johnson’s American Idol performance comes fresh off his showcase at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Thursday (May 16). Ahead of the prestigious country music ceremony, the artist is boasting nods for five awards, including Song of the Year for ‘The Painter’, Visual Media of the Year for his ‘Human’ music video, Album of the Year for his hit-riddled record Leather, Male Artist of the Year, as well as the night’s biggest honor:Entertainer of The Year.
