Chxrry22 Releases New Song ‘More’

R&B

XO Records’ frontwoman Chxrry22 has doubts about an unhinged bug-a-boo on her single “More,” which includes writing and production contributions from DIXSON.

On the track, Chxrry22 is irked by an abrasive partner who seems overly annoying since she shared her prized candy with him. He’s reminding her every day about an ex instead of taking things slow to win her affection.

“Calling my job, calling my girls / Giving obsessed (giving obsessed) / Begging for time / Every night / It’s giving pressed,” Chxrry22 sings.

Speaking on her new song, Chxrry22 says, “‘More’ is about shamelessly expressing what you want out of a situation and not feeling bad about it — not settling and not wasting time.” She adds, “‘More’ sets the tone for the new music that I have coming.”

“More” is the follow-up to Chxrry22’s “Worlds Away.” The latter track, which was produced by Camper, marked her first release of the year. It was rolled out with a visual directed by NSTY.

Both songs arrived less than a year after Chxrry22’s debut EP, The Other Side, which was released in September 2022. The effort was released on The Weeknd’s XO Records and Republic Records.

The Other Side was preceded by the two singles, “The Falls” and “Call Me.” The former track, produced by Sensei Bueno, has over 1.6 million streams on Spotify.

In a 2022 interview with Rated R&B, Chxrry22 explained the inspiration behind The Other Side. “My approach to writing this project was, ‘Just be as honest as you can be and talk about everything — the good and the bad. Don’t make yourself the victim.’ There’s a lot of people that walk around feeling like the villain all the time. And it’s okay. Not everybody is the victim. Someone’s gotta be the villain,” Chxrry22 said.

She continued, “When I sat down and made the project, I just took all of the rules out and was like, ‘Okay, I f**ked this guy. I did this and that. Let me just write about it.’”

Chxrry22 is set to open for The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour during the Australia and New Zealand leg.

The tour will span four dates from Nov. 20 to Dec. 7. Tickets are currently available on The Weeknd’s official website.
