Chlöe Unveils New Single and Video ‘Boy Bye’

R&B

Chlöe has shared her new single “Boy Bye,” her second release of the year.

On the saucy kiss-off, Chlöe says adios to a lover who fails to meet her halfway in their relationship. In the first verse, she sings about overextending herself while he doesn’t even try to make an effort. “I was always loyal, always takin’ the fall / When we were together you were never involved,” sings Chlöe.

The second verse calls out his unfaithful ways, giving her no choice but to take a bow: “You can go back to the girl you f**kin’ on the low.” The chant-like chorus paired with the punchy production — helmed by Yeti Beats, Rogét Chahayed, Carter Lang, and Kurtis McKenzie — makes “Boy Bye” an irresistible bop that’s primed for radio.

Speaking on her new single, Chlöe shares, “‘Boy Bye’ is an anthem for anyone who needs to get rid of someone toxic and draining from their life. It’s liberating and free. That’s how it feels to finally let go of dead weight that’s been keeping you down. Instead of being sad about releasing what’s not good for me, I celebrate it.”

“Boy Bye” is paired with a video directed by C&P. In the video, Chlöe dramatically confronts her no-good lover, while her homegirls help her get ready to leave him behind. After giving him a piece of her mind, Chlöe and friends hit the road in a red Cadillac Eldorado. Later in the video, Chlöe, clad in a white gown and shades, plays the piano in the middle of a field before she is joined by a band and dancers for an electrifying finale.

As indicated above, “Boy Bye” is the follow-up to “FYS,” short for “f**k your status,” which was released on March 1. “FYS” marked the beginning of a new era for Chlöe, following the release of her debut album, In Pieces, in 2023. The album, which was among Rated R&B’s Best R&B Albums of 2023, featured Chris Brown, Missy Elliott, and Future.

Later today (April 12), Chlöe will perform at Coachella in Indio, California. Tinashe, Brittany Howard, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lana Del Rey are also on the bill. All acts, including Chlöe, will return for a second show on April 19.
