Brent Faiyaz Shares ‘Loose Change’ Video

R&B

Brent Faiyaz has unleased the video for “Loose Change,” the second track on his sophomore album, Wasteland

Lone Wolf and Mark Peaced directed the black-and-white video. In the cinematic visual, Faiyaz plays a public figure who takes his love interest (portrayed by Olympic rhythmic gymnast Nastasya Generalova) to see a ballet.

While watching the show, it seems that Faiyaz goes into a trance and finds himself at center stage as the ballerinas dance around him. He eventually snaps back into reality.

As noted above, “Loose Change” is lifted from the Maryland native’s latest album, Wasteland.

Released on July 8, the album debuted at No. 1 Billboard’s Top R&B Albums chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It sold 88,000 equivalent units in its first week. It marked the biggest opening week of his career.

Speaking on Wasteland, Faiyaz told Vogue, “It was less of an album process and more of a life process. I just made a collection of songs and tied a storyline together once I saw that they all kind of shared a similar theme. I didn’t really realize I was working on an album until I was maybe a little over halfway through. Then I realized, Wait a minute, this is a body of work.”

Wasteland includes features from Alicia Keys, Drake, The Neptunes, Tyler, the Creator, Joony, Tre’ Armani and DJ Dahi.

Faiyaz recently joined Keys on stage at her sold-out concert in Los Angeles, California. They performed “Ghetto Gatsby” from Wasteland, as well as “Trillions” from Keys’ latest album, KEYS II

Circling back to Wasteland, the album spawned seven entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, following its release:

— “All Mine,” No. 42
— “Loose Change,” No. 52
— “Price of Fame,” No. 67
— “Rolling Stone,” No. 84
— “Ghetto Gatsby” featuring Alicia Keys, No. 91
— “Heal Your Heart (Interlude),” No. 93
— “FYTB” featuring Joony, No. 97

Of the batch of songs above, “All Mine” remains on the Hot 100, ranking at No. 88 at the time of publishing.
