Over the weekend, the biggest show in sports entertainment — Wrestlemania — took place in Las Vegas for the second consecutive year. It was a “showcase of the immortals,” with the weekend featuring crazy matches, insanely talented wrestlers, and all the bombast you’d expect for the 42nd iteration of the show.
And while it was a fun (albeit expensive) event for all in attendance, it also served as a reminder of the loss we as a community recently suffered, as the ashes of the late Harm’s Way guitarist and HardLore co-host Bo Lueders got to experience the big stage with surviving co-host/Twitching Tongues vocalist Colin Young and Bo Lueders’ partner Taylor Nicole. His remains were kept in an urn the entire time, obviously, but it made the rounds to some famous figures in the wrestling business before it was through.
We know all this because it was plastered on social media, as Lueders’ remains were visited by WWE wrestlers CM Punk and Danhausen, as well as AEW bruiser and God’s Hate vocalist Brody King. As you can see in the post shared below, Young, Nicole, and Lueders got some decent seats to the event, courtesy of Punk (Phil Brooks).
And speaking of CM Punk, who was at Lueders’ funeral alongside Danhausen (Donovan Andrew Danhausen) and King (Nathan Troy Blauvelt), he went a little above and beyond in his tribute to Lueders. As one of the men involved in this year’s final main event, he had a major entrance for his match. Rather than too much craziness, he showed up in a white sports jacket with some names embroidered on it. While some WWE production crew that passed away recently were placed on his right arm, Lueders’ name was located right on his chest for the whole world to see. As he made his way to the ring, announcer Michael Cole referenced the tribute, naming Lueders and his band Harm’s Way by name.
It was a moment that I’m sure Lueders’ friends, fans, and loved ones didn’t miss. It’s also one major tribute, as millions not only heard Bo’s name for the first time, but likely went to Google to find out why this wrestler thought Lueders was so important to prominently feature him on their gear.
Bo Lueders passed away on April 1 after he died of suicide. In the days and weeks that have followed, countless tributes have poured in, as folks recognize Lueders’ contribution to the heavy music and hardcore scenes.
