Blast Worship: Deterioration – Decibel Magazine

Metal

Where they from?
Minneapolis, Minnesota. For the first time ever the Olympics featured breakdancing as an event and everyone is giving the female Australian breakdancer shit because her moves were incredibly wack. Were they bad? Sure, but nothing more cringe than you see at your average deathcore concert. At least she was TRYING, which is more than I can say for most of you battle vest-wearing booger-eaters.

Why the hype?
This is like the third or fourth time I’ve written about this band and I don’t wanna beat a dead horse here, but these guys FUCKING RULE! If anyone is setting the standard for midwest hyper gore violence, it’s these Minneapolis bad boys. There is something so truly psychotic and basement-dwelling about this band, it’s like if Ted Kacynski started a musical project.

Latest Release?
“Paranoia & Violence” out now on Malokul Records. I’m pleasantly surprised to say that I think this band is actually progressing and maturing musically, a rarity when it comes to grind, especially the gore-obsessed variety. This album truly feels a bit more realized than anything they’ve put out and has some really stunning moments and “vibes” that make it easily the best output in their discography. I mean I’ve probably listened to the intro to ‘Unattended Funeral’ about 700 times this past week. Bring back more aggressive bass tones in Grind, the people demand it!
