Blast Worship: Crippling Debt – Decibel Magazine

Metal

Where they from?
Their Bandcamp bio simply states “Florida,” One time about eight years ago I worked at the Hot Topic in the King of Prussia Mall and we had to stay open for twenty-four hours on Black Friday and at about 3 a.m. in the I convinced my co-worker that the show Boy Meets World was actually called Boy Meat Swirled. Ah, to be 27 again.

Why the hype?
Damn, this band really brings me back to like the 2008 era of grindcore, a classic period to say the least, when comps were killing fascists and worlds were being exterminated. This is ‘no frills’ grindcore, but in the best way possible. Just razor-wire attack after razor-wire attack all wrapped up in the greatest anxiety of our age: financial insecurity. The serious relentlessness of the music and the bombasity really reminds me of classic Insect Warfare, which is basically the highest compliment you can give a band playing this style of music.

Latest release?
Depletion, out now on Kitchen Vomit Records. This was supposedly recorded at a place called The Doll House in Fort Lauderdale. I don’t know what kind of dolls they keep in this house, but the record sounds fantastic, raw enough to please crusty ears but also clear and precise enough to appeal to the crowd that showers more regularly.
