An unearthed 2001 studio moment puts Beyoncé, Marc Schaffel and an unexpected Michael Jackson phone call back in the spotlight.
Beyoncé is trending after an old clip came back online with her on producer Marc Schaffel’s lap for a Michael Jackson call.
People online want to know why the older white man kept his seat instead of giving it to her, four months after TMZ aired the clip from Schaffel’s old TV show. Many posts say Beyoncé was 19, but she was 20 when the scene was shot in 2001.
“Alright, here we go. Come on over here. Here you can do it. You want to sit on? You want to make this easier? You can sit on my lap,” Schaffel says.

He then tells Jackson, “Okay, we’re in the studio, and I have Beyoncé sitting on my lap, and I will put you on speakerphone.”
Beyoncé blurts, “Oh God. I’m sorry,” before Schaffel notes, “You’re shaking,” and she answers, “Oh no, I’m gonna pass out.”
“Michael’s an incredible fan of yours,” one man tells her. “Really? Oh God. Don’t tell me that,” Beyoncé says. Jackson later says, “I really appreciate you doing this because we’re giving back.”
“I’m very honored. I can’t believe I’m doing this,” Beyoncé responds. “Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity.”
The scene looks odd now, but the clip alone does not prove any sexual act or force.
The song was “What More Can I Give,” Jackson’s planned aid track for people hurt in the September 11 attacks. Schaffel shot the scene, and TMZ says he is pitching the unseen tape as part of a three-part series.
Schaffel says part three has Beyoncé’s scene, but the full project has no home or release date.
