Ari Lennox’s current single “Pressure,” released in September 2021, has unseated Silk Sonic’s “Smokin Out The Window” for the number-one position at R&B radio.
With nearly 13 million listeners, “Pressure,” produced by Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, and Elite, becomes the Washington, D.C., native’s first lead on any airplay format.
Written with its producers, as well as Johntá Austin and Jai’Len Josey, “Pressure” secured its first score in Lennox’s radio history when it landed her inaugural top ten on R&B airwaves a month after its release.
Thank you @jermainedupri and @Dreamville and all of my beautiful Shea Butter Babies for supporting #pressure 😘😘😘 https://t.co/q6tfgcWxZX

Though the song helped her pick up a 2022 NAACP Image Awards nomination for Outstanding Female Artist, she’s in the studio consistently working on completing her follow-up to 2019’s Shea Butter Baby, named the Best R&B Album of 2021 by Rated R&B.
She offered a few updates on her second album last week, detailing that four more records were needed to turn in the LP. However, she believed she had the ten songs for a solid body of work.
If that weren’t enough, Lennox shared a teaser of a new song called “Mean Mug,” which she calls “so pretty.” The snippet has since been deleted.
Possible collaborators for Lennox’s forthcoming album include Missy Elliott, Babyface, Akil C. “Fresh” King, Blush, and J. White Did It.
In other music-related news, Lennox appeared on recent projects by Ant Clemons, Khalid, Summer Walker and Vedo.
