It’s time to pillage the day with Swedish melodeath merauders Raven Banner. Emerging from plumes of battlefield smoke, this trio strikes with an exceptional Viking-themed melodic death metal record. Today we share their debut record Rise Up Clan a couple days before the album takes flight like Odin’s raven on September 1st. The album was produced by Alexander Backlund (Soen, In Mourning, October Tide) in Fascination Street Studios. Once there, world-renowned producer Jens Bogren (Opeth, Sepultura, Kreator) took care of mixing and mastering.

Raven Banner skillfully balance epic melodies with death metal’s inherent hostility. The opening title track immediately provides the spark of the inferno on the album’s cover. It’s crisp with a killer chorus and riffs of iron. Later, the album’s first single “Beware the Fury” plays with dynamics better than any other song on the album. The lead guitars are clear and confident, shimmering like plundered gold while striking a bittersweet tone. “Gutbound” aims for a muddier, minimalist attack before the song’s epic late-song surge. The end result is an album replete with Viking warriors and bloodthirsty gods, ready to conquer the hearts of Amon Amarth and Bathory fans alike.

“It’s been a long road here, but we are thrilled for you to finally join us on this journey,” Raven Banner share about the album release. “Rise Up Clan is an unrelenting album taking listeners on an epic voyage through the realms of our Scandinavian heritage.”
