Dave Davidson of Revocation’s Top 5 Albums of 2024

Metal

(Editor’s note: Looking back on 2024, there were so many good albums released that we decided to reach out to some of today’s artists and get them to weigh in on their favorites. What follows is Revocation frontman Dave Davidson’s ‘Top Albums of 2024’.)

Living Gate – Suffer As One

This record is a complete riff-fest from front to back. “Suffer As One” has an aggressive old school vibe,  yet is also full of surprising twists and turns that will keep you intrigued and banging your head at the same time. Also the cover art is a spider-like demon made out of skeletons, it doesn’t get much more death metal than that.

Siderean – Spilling The Astral Chalice

Better grab the two-ply paper towels because Siderean spilled the astral chalice all over the damn place and got sick riffs everywhere. While they are a relatively new band, Siderean are showing a ton of promise and originality with their second release. If you like your death metal with a healthy dose of prog and a touch of black metal atmosphere, give this chalice a sip.

Convulsing – Perdurance

Convulsing get better with every release. The fact that everything was written and performed by only one person is simply mind blowing, kudos to Brendan Sloan for masterminding this incredible project.

Defeated Sanity – Chronicles Of Lunacy

Pure, unhinged brutality. These dudes have been putting out some of the most unrelenting death metal since the 90s and still continue to push the boundaries of death metal. Having seen them live on a couple occasions I can also attest to the ferocity of their live performances, it’s simply amazing that they can pull this insane shit off live!

Wormed – Omegon

Death metal from another dimension! This record has no shortage of chaotic riffing, inhuman vocals and wild syncopated grooves. The combo will make you feel like you’re lost in an inscrutable matrix while your brain is being dissolved by cosmic radiation as the remains of your psyche are absorbed into a supermassive black hole, but in a good way. They claim they’re from Spain, but clearly inter-dimensional beings wrote this album.
